Monthly Chapter Meeting
IABC/Washington traditionally holds nine regular chapter meetings each year. Eight feature a networking and professional development program; the ninth features networking and career counseling. These meetings offer sponsors a forum for reaching an audience of approximately 80-125 area business communicators. Meetings are traditionally held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month.

Silver Inkwell Awards Celebration
Held in October, the annual Silver Inkwell Awards Celebration recognizes excellence and leadership in business communications. More than 135 area communicators attended the 2007 celebration, at which 15Awards of Excellence, 40 Awards of Merit, and one “Best of the Best” Award were handed out. IABC/Washington also honors its Volunteer of the Year at this event, which was held at the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City.

Pinnacle Award Ceremony
Held in May, the Pinnacle Award ceremony honors the business communicator in the Greater Washington and Baltimore regions who exemplifies the highest standards of excellence and ethics. The event offers sponsors an opportunity to rub elbows with both communicators and other members of the regional business community. The 2007 award winner was Margery E. Zylich, APR, of MedStar Health.

Holiday Party
Held in December, the holiday party is an opportunity for IABC members and other area communicators to meet, mingle, network, and dance. IABC/Washington traditionally hosts the holiday party with one or two other area professional organizations. The 2006 event was co-hosted by Washington Women in Public Relations and the Capital Communicators Group. The holiday party offers sponsors an opportunity to reach out to communications professionals across the Greater Washington and Baltimore regions.

Special Interest Groups
IABC/Washington offers several special interest groups—Senior Communicators Group, the Independents Group, and the Maryland SIG—that complement and build upon the monthly meetings and networking opportunities. These SIGs offer sponsors an opportunity to reach a more targeted audience.

Networking Happy Hours
IABC/Washington's signature Fourth Tuesday Happy Hours bring together area communicators to network and share best practices in an informal setting.

Professional Development Workshops
IABC/Washington offers occasional teleseminars, Webinars, and other value-added professional development workshops.
