Communications Bulletin
Five IABC/Washington board members and I recently returned from the annual IABC Leadership Institute in San Diego. What an invigorating few days we had exchanging best practices with chapter leaders worldwide. It was a forum for new ideas and leadership development. If you have a chance please thank Randi Hicks Rowe, Daria Steigman, Randy Tyson, Shonali Burke, and Susannah Cernojevich for taking the time to attend the Leadership Institute on your behalf.
Being Heard is the new tagline for IABC that was unveiled at the Leadership Institute. This is part of a new branding initiative that will help position IABC in a bold, consistent manor. As the brand guidelines state, “Being Heard encapsulates how membership in IABC can improve a professional communicator's ability to effectively deliver their message to both internal and external audiences.” It also works within the IABC network and outside with businesses, organizations and student communities. It speaks to members and communicators worldwide on the collegial nature of IABC and the atmosphere it provides to be heard.
I would like to congratulate Daria Steigman, IABC/Washington's past president and the 2005/2006 board for winning four Chapter Management Awards (CMAs). The CMAs are an annual global competition among chapters that are evaluated on management and leadership skills. The IABC/Washington chapter brought home four awards. An award of excellence for Leadership Development and three award of merits for Membership Marketing, Community Outreach, and Professional Development. Way to go IABC/Washington!
