IABC/Washington members not only run this chapter, they make it a success! Why do they get involved? Active members say that volunteering:
Strengthens their current skills.
Provides them the chance to gain new skills.
Makes them better at their jobs.
Helps them find better jobs!
Provides them a network of peers who can give advice.
Introduces them to new people, new friends, new connections.
Gives them a chance to have fun.
Lets them try new things.
Gives them an outlet for their creative ideas.
We are very grateful for the contributions that our volunteers have made to IABC/Washington this year. We know that everyone can not commit to a large project or a regular schedule of meetings. IABC/Washington members have a chance to be involved in plenty of ways.
Single-event opportunities:
Be a greeter at monthly meetings. Welcome members and guests, answer basic questions about the meeting schedule and make them feel welcome.
Judge awards competitions. Volunteers review contest entries (whether for IABC or other organizations) and evaluate their success.
Write an article for the chapter e-newsletter.
Host a student on Student Shadow Day.

Short-term or occasional opportunities:
Publicize a special educational program or meeting.
Solicit advertising for the membership directory.
Find sponsors for the Silver Inkwell Awards banquet.
Help maintain the chapter Web site.
Promote the chapter Job Bank to area employers.
Interested? Your membership is worth what you put into it. Take the time to make it valuable. Do you want to be on the chapter volunteer list? Contact Mike Rothenberg at 703/820-1270, or via email about ongoing, specialized, and event-specific volunteer assignments.
