Compelling Design: The Secret to More Effective Communication
Writers who want to learn how to use design to leverage their message will be particularly interested in this session. Design is a powerful communication tool, particularly when an organization is building or revitalizing its overall image.
Many organizations do not take full advantage of the power of visual imagery to engage, educate, and even persuade their key stakeholders. More than just an eye-catching logo or a punchy marketing communications campaign, design is (or should be) an integrated, mission-aligned decision that results from careful research, deliberation, and organizational strategy.
In this presentation, given by Carin van Vuuren, executive director in the New York office of Landor AssociatesLandor Associates( designers of the Department of Homeland Security seal, among countless other well-known brand icons), we will explore practical ways that organizations can use design to tell their story both to employees and to external audiences.
Carin leads the corporate branding practice. In this role, she is responsible for the strategic oversight and direction of the practice and manages end-to-end execution of corporate branding programs. She has more than 15 years’ experience in brand strategy and development, internal brand activation, and strategic marketing communications. Carin's roster of clients includes Johnson & Johnson, JPMorgan Chase & Co., MetLife, Royal Bank of Canada, and UPS.
